Description

Judd-382, Pollock-453, is the second 1864 proof dime With Motto pattern. This variety presents a refined configuration drawing on the lessons of the extensive 1863 dime experiments. The reduction from over twenty-five 1863 varieties to just three 1864 varieties indicates that the design had largely been settled, with only final adjustments remaining. The dime would receive the With Motto design on regular production coins beginning in 1866.
