Description
The 1862 Proof Half Dollar Pattern - J-293 is a proof half dollar struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Civil War Patterns (1860-1865) series. This half dollar carries GOD OUR TRUST on a scroll; W. Elliot Woodward wrote in his May 1863 sale that 25 sets were struck, and some pieces are believed to be later restrikes. It is struck in silver with a reeded edge; USPatterns rates it R-6. Catalogued as Judd-293, Pollock-351, A/W 357, Taxay EP313. Cataloged as PCGS #60443.
