Description

Produced at the Philadelphia Mint, the 1841 Liberty Head Quarter Eagle is part of the Liberty Head Quarter Eagles 1840-1907 series. PCGS has graded 1841 Philadelphia quarter eagles as circulation strikes as well as proofs since 2012; NGC continues to recognize every 1841 quarter eagle as a proof, and no Philadelphia mintage was recorded. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a coronet inscribed LIBERTY and the reverse displays a heraldic eagle with shield on breast, olive branch and arrows in talons. Charlotte and Dahlonega continued quarter eagle production alongside Philadelphia. Struck in 90% gold, 10% copper, weighing 4.18 grams, 18 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #87720.
