The 1841 (D) Liberty Head Half Eagle - Small D is a Gold Half Eagle produced at the Dahlonega Mint as part of the Liberty Head Half Eagles 1839-1908 series. With a mintage of 29,392, this is a scarce issue — ranked 3rd of 4 mint variants by mintage, with 31% of production. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a coronet inscribed LIBERTY and the reverse displays a heraldic eagle with shield on breast, olive branch and arrows in talons, with a banner reading E PLURIBUS UNUM. Four-mint production continued. The 1841-C and 1841-D are collected by Southern gold specialists. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Estimated market value ranges from $3.6K to $31K depending on grade and condition.
