Description
The 1836 Classic Head Quarter Eagle - Script 8 represents a Philadelphia Mint issue from the Classic Head Quarter Eagles 1834-1839 series. In all, 547,986 quarter eagles were coined in 1836; the number with the Script 8 is unknown. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a fillet or headband inscribed LIBERTY and the reverse displays a heraldic eagle with shield on breast, olive branch and arrows in talons, with no motto. Script 8 and Block 8 varieties exist. Mintage remained robust at Philadelphia. Struck in 89.9% gold, 10.1% copper, weighing 4.18 grams, 18.2 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #7694.
