Description

The 1829 Classic Head Half Cent is a cent produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Classic Head Half Cents 1809-1836 series. The U.S. Mint produced 487,000 examples, making this the lower-mintage of the two mint variants. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a fillet or headband inscribed LIBERTY and the reverse displays a wreath enclosing HALF CENT. Low mintage continued. The series would end in 1836. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $100 to $860 depending on grade and condition. Struck in copper, weighing 5.44 grams, 23.5 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #1153.
