Description
The 1829 Capped Bust Dime - Small/Large 10C is a dime minted at the Philadelphia Mint, within the Capped Bust Dimes 1809-1837 series. With a mintage of 770,000, this is a less common issue — the lowest mintage among 7 mint variants, representing only 14% of total production. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a mob cap or turban and the reverse displays a heraldic eagle with shield on breast, olive branch and arrows in talons, with a banner reading E PLURIBUS UNUM. The first full year of the small-type Capped Bust Dime with the close-collar striking technology. Philadelphia's mint — the nation's first — has produced coins without interruption since its founding in 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $6.3K to $54K depending on grade and condition.
