Description
Crude copper token from San Fernando de Bexar (San Antonio). Obverse shows "MB" initials (Manuel Barrera) above "1/2" and date "1817". Reverse shows incuse single star, considered the first appearance of the Texas Lone Star symbol. 8,000 authorized March 29, 1817 by Governor Manuel Prado; withdrawn from circulation in 1818.
