Description

The 1814 Classic Head Cent - Plain 4 is a cent produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Classic Head Cents 1808-1814 series. The U.S. Mint produced 357,830 examples. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a fillet or headband inscribed LIBERTY, while the reverse displays a wreath enclosing ONE CENT. Designed by John Reich. Struck in copper, weighing 10.89 grams, 28 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #1576. The Classic Head Cent was produced during a period of national growth and the aftermath of the War of 1812. A short-lived series of only seven years with relatively low mintages. All dates are scarce compared to later cents.
