The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a mob cap or turban and the reverse displays a heraldic eagle with shield on breast, olive branch and arrows in talons, with a banner reading E PLURIBUS UNUM. The only Capped Bust Dime struck during the War of 1812 era — no dimes were produced from 1811-1813 due to wartime disruptions. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $349 to $11K depending on grade and condition. Struck in 89.2% silver, 10.8% copper, weighing 2.7 grams, 19 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #4490.
