Description
The 1807 Draped Bust to Left Half Eagle is a Gold Half Eagle produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Draped Bust to Left Half Eagles 1807-1812 series. With a mintage of 51,605, this is a less common issue. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a mob cap or turban with a larger, draped bust and the reverse displays a heraldic eagle with shield on breast, olive branch and arrows in talons, with a banner reading E PLURIBUS UNUM. First year of the Capped Bust Left design by John Reich, replacing Robert Scot's Capped Bust Right type. Estimated market value ranges from $6.2K to $32K depending on grade and condition. Struck in 91.7% gold, 8.3% copper, weighing 8.75 grams, 25 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #8101.
