Description
The 1804 Draped Bust Half Cent - Spiked Chin is a cent produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Draped Bust Half Cents 1800-1808 series. The U.S. Mint produced 1.1 million examples, making this the lowest mintage among 5 mint variants, representing only 20% of total production. The obverse features Liberty facing right with draped bust and ribbon-bound hair, designed after a Gilbert Stuart portrait and the reverse displays a wreath enclosing HALF CENT. Multiple die varieties including the Spiked Chin, Crosslet 4, and Plain 4. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $123 to $1.2K depending on grade and condition. Struck in copper, weighing 5.44 grams, 23.5 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #1075.
