The 1804 Draped Bust Half Cent - Plain 4, Stems, struck at the Philadelphia Mint, is part of the Draped Bust Half Cents 1800-1808 collection. The U.S. Mint produced 1.1 million examples, making this the lowest mintage among 5 mint variants, representing only 20% of total production. The obverse features Liberty facing right with draped bust and ribbon-bound hair, designed after a Gilbert Stuart portrait and the reverse displays a wreath enclosing HALF CENT. Multiple die varieties including the Spiked Chin, Crosslet 4, and Plain 4. Philadelphia's mint — the nation's first — has produced coins without interruption since its founding in 1792.
