Description
The 1794 Liberty Cap Cent - Starred Reverse is a cent from the Philadelphia Mint, belonging to the Liberty Cap Cents 1793-1796 series. A total of 918,521 cents was struck for 1794 as a whole; how many came from the Starred Reverse die is not recorded. The obverse features Liberty facing right with a Phrygian cap on a pole behind her head, symbolizing freedom and the reverse displays a wreath enclosing ONE CENT and 1/100 of a dollar. Robert Scot took over engraving duties. Head of 1793 and Head of 1794 subtypes reflect the design transition. Multiple Sheldon die varieties. Struck in copper, weighing 13.48 grams, 28 mm in diameter, with a lettered: one hundred for a dollar edge. Cataloged as PCGS #1374.
