Description
The 1794 Liberty Cap Cent - Head of 1795, Low Relief is a cent produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Liberty Cap Cents 1793-1796 series. The U.S. Mint produced 918,521 examples, making this the lowest mintage among 5 mint variants, representing only 20% of total production. The obverse features Liberty facing right with a Phrygian cap on a pole behind her head, symbolizing freedom and the reverse displays a wreath enclosing ONE CENT and 1/100 of a dollar. Robert Scot took over engraving duties. Head of 1793 and Head of 1794 subtypes reflect the design transition. Multiple Sheldon die varieties. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $721 to $10K depending on grade and condition. Struck in copper, weighing 13.48 grams, 28 mm in diameter, with a lettered: one hundred for a dollar edge. Cataloged as PCGS #1365.
