Description
The 1793 Wreath Cent - Vine and Bars is part of the Flowing Hair Wreath Cents 1793 series. The U.S. Mint struck 63,353 Wreath cents dated 1793 across both edge types; how many have the Vine and Bars edge is unknown. The obverse features Liberty facing right with flowing hair, with a sprig of leaves above the date, and the reverse displays a wreath enclosing ONE CENT. Produced during the earliest years of the United States Mint, when the young republic was establishing its monetary system and coinage traditions. Struck in copper, weighing 13.48 grams, 27 mm in diameter, with a bars and vines edge. Cataloged as PCGS #1347.
