Description
A silver threepence struck by Annapolis silversmith John Chalmers in 1783. The smallest denomination in the Chalmers series, featuring two clasped hands on the obverse and a branch on the reverse. Chalmers struck these coins in response to a shortage of small change following the Revolutionary War.
