Description
The 1781 Token 1/2P North American Half Penny is filed under North American Token in the Post-1776 Private and Regional Issues (1778-1820) series. The North American token is dated 1781 but is now thought to have been struck in Dublin in the 1810s or 1820s and backdated (search). The obverse shows Hibernia seated with a harp, and the reverse a two-masted ship with the word COMMERCE (search). PCGS lists it as #589.
