Strike TypeCoin Details
Description
The year on NGC's entry for Fuld IL-150J-7a is 1860, ahead of the 1861 and 1863 dates found on many Childs cards from Chicago. Here IL is Illinois, 150 is Chicago, J is the Childs merchant code and 7 is the die pair. The piece is struck on copper, which is what the a at the end of the number records. An 1860 date is earlier than the start of the war in April 1861.
