Description

Fuld NJ-555C-4b is J. Wightman's die pair 4 in brass, coded b. Read by a dealer from a white-metal example, the dies combine Wightman's Washington Street, Newark die, dated 1863, with an Indian Head. NGC also dates the brass card 1863. NJ marks New Jersey, 555 is Newark in Fuld's town list, and C is the merchant. Newark stands on the Passaic River, a few miles west of New York City.
