Description

The 2026 (W) Proof American Eagle Twenty Five Dollar Gold is a proof Gold Eagle struck at the West Point Mint, part of the American Eagle Twenty Five Dollar Gold 1986 to Date series. The obverse is Augustus Saint-Gaudens' Liberty from the 1907 double eagle, in the version refreshed in 2021; the reverse, designed by Jennie Norris, is a close-up portrait of an eagle's head. Coins dated 2026 carry the dates 1776 and 2026 and a Liberty Bell privy mark with the numeral 250 for the nation's 250th anniversary. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements. Struck in 91.67% gold, 3% silver, 5.33% copper, weighing 16.97 grams, 27 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge.
