Description
The 2026 (P) Proof Freedom Ringing Liberty Bell One-Half Ounce Silver Medal is a bell-shaped medal struck at Philadelphia for the semiquincentennial. The obverse is the Liberty Bell itself, crack and all, with LIBERTY across the shoulder, the dates 1776 ~ 2026 and IN GOD WE TRUST. The reverse shows Independence Hall, the bell's original home, with fireworks behind it; UNITED STATES OF AMERICA runs along the yoke with E PLURIBUS UNUM beneath. Being a medal it carries no denomination; the sound bow bears the dates 1776 ~ 2026. Per the Mint it is the first non-round United States medal in recent history, handloaded and pressed in the Philadelphia Mint's Research and Development Lab, which is why the mintage limit is only 2,026. Struck in 99.9% silver, half a troy ounce, measuring 1.024 by 0.888 inches, with a smooth edge.
