About This Coin
Freedom Ringing - Liberty Bell is a set of bell-shaped pieces struck at Philadelphia for the 250th anniversary of American independence: a one ounce gold $250 coin, a half ounce gold $125 coin, and a half ounce silver medal. The obverse is the Liberty Bell itself, crack and all, with LIBERTY across the shoulder, the dates 1776 ~ 2026 and IN GOD WE TRUST. The reverse shows Independence Hall, the bell's original home, with fireworks behind it; UNITED STATES OF AMERICA runs along the yoke with E PLURIBUS UNUM beneath. Per the Mint it is the first non-round United States coin in recent history, handloaded and pressed in the Philadelphia Mint's Research and Development Lab, which is why the mintage limit is only 2,026.
