Description
The 2025 (S) Proof Morgan Dollar is a proof dollar struck at the San Francisco Mint, part of the 1921 Silver Dollar Anniversary Coins (2021 to Date) series. With a mintage of 152,584, this is an extremely rare issue — the highest mintage among 3 variants, accounting for 39% of the year's production. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with wheat and cotton, encircled by stars and the reverse displays an eagle with outstretched wings clutching an olive branch and arrows, surrounded by a wreath. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements prized by collectors. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, established during the California Gold Rush and now primarily producing proof and collector coins. Estimated market value is approximately $231. Struck in 99.9% silver, weighing 8.1 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #966147.
