The West Point Mint struck 14,473 of these proofs dated 2023, by the Mint's figures. Saint-Gaudens's Liberty from the 1907 double eagle, carrying a torch and an olive branch, fills the obverse, retouched in 2021 from a cast of the original; Jennie Norris's reverse is a close portrait of an eagle's head. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements.
