Description
The 2023 (S) Proof Peace Dollar is a proof dollar struck at the San Francisco Mint, part of the 1921 Silver Dollar Anniversary Coins (2021 to Date) series. The U.S. Mint produced 200,000 examples, making this the lowest mintage among 3 mint variants, representing only 28% of total production. The obverse features classic Morgan or Peace Dollar designs faithfully reproduced and the reverse displays classic Morgan or Peace Dollar reverses faithfully reproduced. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements prized by collectors. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, established during the California Gold Rush and now primarily producing proof and collector coins. Estimated market value is approximately $231.
