The 2022 (S) Proof Negro Leagues Baseball Commemorative Half Dollar is a proof commemorative half dollar struck at the San Francisco Mint. With a mintage of 12,802, this is a scarce commemorative issue. Part of the Negro Leagues Baseball three-coin program, this half dollar's bus imagery addresses the discrimination players faced while traveling. The obverse features a ballplayer at bat with a team bus below, referencing the buses that served as both transportation and shelter when hotels refused accommodation, while the reverse displays five Negro Leagues Baseball players standing together with bats and gloves. Designed by Chris Costello and John P. McGraw (obverse), Justin Kunz and Phebe Hemphill (reverse). Struck in nickel clad copper-n, weighing 11.34 grams, 30.6 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge.
