Description
Produced at the San Francisco and West Point Mints, the 2021 (S)(W) Silver Eagle - Flying Eagle is part of the American Silver Eagles 1986 to Date series. The obverse features Liberty striding confidently toward the sunrise, draped in the American flag, carrying branches of laurel and oak symbolizing civil and military glory — Adolph Weinman's design adapted from the Walking Liberty Half Dollar and the reverse displays an eagle landing on a branch, designed by Emily Damstra. Both Type 1 (Mercanti heraldic eagle) and Type 2 (Damstra eagle landing) reverses were produced, the first major design change in 35 years. Struck in .999 fine silver, weighing 31.1 grams, 40.6 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #880924.
