Coin Details
Description
The William Henry Harrison Presidential Silver Medal is part of the U.S. Mint's ongoing series honoring each American president with a one-ounce .999 fine silver medal featuring a matte finish. Harrison's obverse portrait reproduces the historic bronze presidential medal design, capturing the ninth president in military bearing befitting his fame as the hero of Tippecanoe. The reverse displays the iconic "Peace and Friendship" design by John Reich, showing clasped hands beneath crossed pipe and tomahawk. Harrison holds the distinction of the shortest presidency in American history, serving just 31 days before dying of pneumonia on April 4, 1841. His 1840 "Tippecanoe and Tyler Too" campaign remains one of the most famous in American political history. This silver medal was released in May 2021 as part of the fourth release year of the Presidential Silver Medal series, which began in 2018 with George Washington and John Adams.
