Description
The 2020 (W) Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Commemorative Five Dollar Gold represents a West Point Mint issue from the Modern Commemorative Five Dollar Gold (1984-Date) series. The West Point Mint struck 3,263 uncirculated Basketball Hall of Fame five-dollar gold coins dated 2020. The curved coin shows three players reaching for the ball, with the rim and net behind, on its obverse, and a basketball about to pass through the net on its reverse. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. Coined at the West Point Mint, which transitioned from bullion depository to a dedicated production facility for commemorative and investment-grade coins. Struck in 90% gold, 6% silver and 4% copper, weighing 8.359 grams, 21.59 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #812981.
