Description
The 2020 (S) American Samoa National Park Quarter represents a San Francisco Mint issue from the America the Beautiful Quarters 2010-2021 series. The U.S. Mint produced 2 million examples, making this the lowest mintage among 20 mint variants, representing only 5% of total production. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites from each state and territory. National Park of American Samoa (AS), Weir Farm (CT), Salt River Bay (VI), Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller (VT), and Tallgrass Prairie (KS) were featured. The final full year of the program, with pandemic-related production adjustments. San Francisco's storied mint, born of the California Gold Rush, has evolved into the primary producer of U.S. proof coins. Estimated market value ranges from $0 to $4 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel over a pure copper center, weighing 5.67 grams, 24.3 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #810566.
