Description
The 2018 (P) Breast Cancer Awareness Dollar is a commemorative dollar struck at the Philadelphia Mint. The Philadelphia Mint struck 12,521 uncirculated Breast Cancer Awareness dollars dated 2018. Authorized to raise breast cancer awareness and fund research and patient support programs. The obverse features two women — an older woman and a younger woman with a head scarf — with a butterfly flying above, representing hope and courage, while the reverse displays a Tiger Swallowtail butterfly in flight, a symbol of hope. Designed by Emily Damstra. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #671321. The Breast Cancer dollar is notable for sharing its design across all three denominations in the program. The $5 gold version was the first U.S. gold coin struck with a pink hue from extra copper in the alloy.
