The 2017 (W) Proof American Eagle One Hundred Dollar Platinum - 20th Anniversary is a proof platinum coin struck at the West Point Mint, part of the American Eagle One Hundred Dollar Platinum 1997 to Date series. With a mintage of just 8,892, this is a rare issue sought by specialists. The obverse features the Statue of Liberty facing forward (1997-2017), then rotating designs, while the reverse displays an eagle soaring over the sunrise (1997 bullion), with proof versions featuring annually rotating designs based on Constitutional and patriotic themes. Designed by John M. Mercanti/Thomas D. Rogers. Struck in 99.95% platinum, weighing 31.11 grams, 32.7 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #629176.
