Description

This 2017-S American Liberty Medal was produced at the San Francisco Mint for the 225th Anniversary of the United States Mint Set. The San Francisco Mint has been operating since 1854, established during the California Gold Rush to convert the flood of western gold into federal coinage without the expense and risk of shipping raw gold to Philadelphia. For the 225th anniversary celebration, all four active mints produced medals to represent the geographic breadth of the U.S. Mint system.
