Description
The 2017 (D) Kennedy Half Dollar is a half dollar produced at the Denver Mint as part of the Kennedy Half Dollars Clad and Silver Proof 1971 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 3.6 million examples, making this the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 55% of production. The obverse features John F. Kennedy facing left, based on the presidential medal by Gilroy Roberts and the reverse displays the Presidential Seal — a heraldic eagle with shield, olive branch, and arrows. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $3 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel over a pure copper center, weighing 11.3 grams, 30.61 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #622843.
