Description
The 2017 (D) Boys Town Centennial Commemorative Half Dollar is a commemorative half dollar struck at the Denver Mint. With a mintage of 15,525, this is a scarce commemorative issue. Part of the Boys Town centennial three-coin program, this half dollar's obverse references the organization's famous motto, inspired by a boy who said of the child he was carrying: 'He ain't heavy, Father. The obverse features an older brother holding the hand of his younger brother, circa 1917, while the reverse displays a present-day Boys Town neighborhood with young adults graduating. Designed by Chris Costello. Struck in copper-nickel, weighing 11.34 grams, 30.6 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #623246. The Boys Town half dollar's brother-helping-brother design captures the heart of the organization's mission and its most iconic moment.
