The 2014 (P) Burnished Great Smoky Mtns National Park 5 oz Silver Quarter - No P is a special strike quarter struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the 5 oz. America the Beautiful Silver Quarters 2010 to Date series. The 2014 (P) burnished Great Smoky Mountains 5 oz issue had a mintage of 24,710 in all; how many lack the P mint mark is not recorded, though NGC reported certifying five of them in 2018. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon. The reverse shows a historic log cabin in the park, with a hawk circling overhead and forest behind it. Inscriptions: GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS, TENNESSEE, 2014 and E PLURIBUS UNUM. Struck in 99.9% silver, weighing 155.5 grams, 76.2 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #755895. America the Beautiful Silver Quarters are bullion versions of the circulating ATB quarters, struck in five troy ounces of .999 fine silver at three inches in diameter. Among the most imposing coins in the U.S. Mint's portfolio. Burnished and uncirculated versions with vapor-blasted finish are especially collectible. The series parallels the circulating ATB program from 2010 to 2021.
