Description

The 2013 (P) Mount Rushmore National Park 5 oz Silver Quarter is a quarter from the Philadelphia Mint, belonging to the 5 oz. America the Beautiful Silver Quarters 2010 to Date series. With a mintage of 35,000, this is a scarce issue — ranked 4th of 5 mint variants by mintage, with 22% of production. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites — struck in 5 ounces of .999 fine silver at a massive 76.2mm diameter. The reverse depicts workers adding sculptural details to Thomas Jefferson's face, showing the monument during construction. Mount Rushmore features the 60-foot carved faces of Presidents Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt, and Lincoln. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. The Philadelphia Mint, America's oldest coin-making facility, has struck coins continuously since 1792. Estimated market value is approximately $113. Struck in 99.9% silver, weighing 155.5 grams, 76.2 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #518164.
