Description

The 2008 (W) Burnished Eagle, Rev '07 FS-901 Dollar is a special strike dollar struck at the West Point Mint, part of the American Silver Eagles 1986 to Date series. With a mintage of 46,318, this is a scarce issue. The obverse features Liberty striding confidently toward the sunrise, draped in the American flag, carrying branches of laurel and oak symbolizing civil and military glory — Adolph Weinman's iconic design adapted from the Walking Liberty Half Dollar, while the reverse displays a heraldic eagle behind a shield, designed by John M. Mercanti — the most reproduced coin image in history (1986-2020) or an eagle in flight carrying an oak branch, the redesigned reverse by Emily Damstra introduced in 2021 (2021+). Designed by Adolph A. Weinman/John Mercanti. Struck in 99.93% silver, .007% copper, weighing 31.1 grams, 40.6 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #511605. The American Silver Eagle has been the United States' official silver bullion coin since 1986, containing one troy ounce of .999 fine silver. Key dates include the 1995-W Proof (mintage ~30,125), 1994-P (proof only), and the 2019-S Enhanced Reverse Proof. The transition between Type 1 (Mercanti) and Type 2 (Damstra) reverses in 2021 created strong collector demand.
