Description
The 2008 (P) Proof Bald Eagle Dollar is a proof dollar struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Modern Commemorative Dollars (1982-Date) series. The Philadelphia Mint struck 294,601 proof Bald Eagle Recovery and National Emblem dollars dated 2008. The obverse shows a bald eagle in flight and the reverse the Great Seal as used from 1782 to 1841. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #394418.
