The 2008 American Eagle One Hundred Dollar Platinum is a United States platinum coin from the American Eagle One Hundred Dollar Platinum 1997 to Date series. In 2008 the Mint sold 21,800 bullion coins struck at Philadelphia, 4,769 proofs struck at West Point and 2,876 burnished coins struck at West Point. The obverse features the Statue of Liberty facing forward; the bullion reverse displays an eagle soaring over the sunrise, and the proof and burnished reverse Lady Justice watched over by an eagle, for the judicial branch. Struck in 99.95% platinum, weighing 31.12 grams, 32.7 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Designed by John M. Mercanti (obverse) and Thomas D. Rogers Sr. (bullion reverse), with the proof and burnished reverse by Joel Iskowitz.
