Description

The 2007 (W) Proof American Eagle Ten Dollar Platinum is a proof platinum coin struck at the West Point Mint, part of the American Eagle Ten Dollar Platinum 1997 to Date series. The Mint sold 8,176 tenth-ounce proofs dated 2007. The obverse features the Statue of Liberty facing forward and the reverse displays an eagle above a shield crossed by a banner reading FREEDOM, for the executive branch. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements. Struck at the West Point Mint, originally a bullion depository that became a full coin production facility, specializing in commemorative and bullion issues. Struck in 99.95% platinum, weighing 3.11 grams, 16.5 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #149573.
