Description

The 2007 (P) Utah Satin Finish State Quarter is a special strike quarter struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the State Quarters 1999-2008 series. The U.S. Mint produced 895,628 examples, making this the lowest mintage among 30 mint variants, representing only less than 1% of total production. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs representing each of the 50 U.S. states, released in the order of statehood ratification. The reverse features two locomotives moving toward each other with the Golden Spike between them, with the inscription "Crossroads of the West." The design commemorates the 1869 completion of the first transcontinental railroad at Promontory Summit. Montana, Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Auction record: $75 SP69 12-27-2018 eBay. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel, weighing 5.67 grams, 24.3 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #389916.
