Description
The 2005 (P) Proof Marine Corps Dollar is a proof dollar struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Modern Commemorative Dollars (1982-Date) series. The Philadelphia Mint struck 414,250 proof Marine Corps 230th Anniversary dollars dated 2005. The obverse shows the flag raising on Iwo Jima and the reverse the Marine Corps emblem, the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #921007.
