The 2005 American Eagle One Hundred Dollar Platinum is a United States platinum coin from the American Eagle One Hundred Dollar Platinum 1997 to Date series. In 2005 the Mint sold 6,310 bullion coins struck at Philadelphia and 6,602 proofs struck at West Point. The obverse features the Statue of Liberty facing forward; the bullion reverse displays an eagle soaring over the sunrise, and the proof reverse an eagle perched on a heraldic shield. Struck in 99.95% platinum, weighing 31.12 grams, 32.7 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Designed by John M. Mercanti (obverse) and Thomas D. Rogers Sr. (bullion reverse), with the proof reverse by Donna Weaver.
