Description
The 2002 (W) Proof Salt Lake City Olympic Games Commemorative Five Dollar Gold is a proof commemorative dollar struck at the West Point Mint. With a mintage of 32,877, this is a scarce commemorative issue. The gold coin companion to the Salt Lake City dollar, this $5 piece features the distinctive crystal snowflake emblem of the 2002 Winter Games. The obverse features the 2002 Salt Lake Olympic Winter Games crystal emblem against the 'Rhythm of the Land' design, while the reverse displays an Olympic flame burning within a cauldron. Designed by Donna Weaver. Struck in 90% gold, 10% copper, weighing 8.36 grams, 21.6 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #99799.
