Description
The 2000 (W) Library of Congress Bicentennial Commemorative Ten Dollar Gold is a commemorative ten-dollar gold coin struck at the West Point Mint. The West Point Mint struck 7,261 uncirculated Library of Congress Bicentennial ten-dollar coins dated 2000. This $10 piece was the first bimetallic coin ever produced by the United States Mint, composed of gold and platinum. The obverse features the hand of Minerva raising the torch of learning over the dome of the Jefferson Building, while the reverse displays the seal of the Library of Congress encircled by a laurel wreath. Designed by John M. Mercanti/Thomas D. Rogers. Struck with a .9995 platinum core in a .900 gold ring, weighing 16.26 grams, 26.92 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #9784.
