Description
The 1998 (P) American Eagle Twenty Five Dollar Platinum is a platinum coin produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the American Eagle Twenty Five Dollar Platinum 1997 to Date series. With a mintage of 38,887, this is a scarce issue. The obverse features the Statue of Liberty facing forward, while the reverse displays an eagle soaring over the sunrise. Designed by John M. Mercanti/Thomas D. Rogers. Struck in 99.95% platinum, weighing 7.78 grams, 22 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #9766. The quarter-ounce American Platinum Eagle contains 1/4 troy ounce of .9995 fine platinum. Produced in bullion format from 1997 to 2008. Low-mintage years are particularly collectible.
