Description
The 1996 (D) Atlanta Centennial Olympic Games Paralympic Dollar is a cent produced at the Denver Mint as part of the Modern Commemorative Dollars (1982-Date) series. With a mintage of 15,325, this is a scarce issue — the scarcer of two mint variants, with 15% of total production. The obverse features designs varying by commemorative issue, authorized by Congress to honor significant American events, people, and institutions and the reverse displays designs varying by commemorative issue. Struck after the transition from silver to clad coinage, as the Mint adapted to modern production methods and record-breaking mintages.
