Description
First documented rim cud for the 1995 Philadelphia Mint Washington Quarter, this variety records the loss of part of the die's rim gutter, which appears on the coin as a raised interruption in the design rim that tracks the rim's course. The raised interruption is often visible without magnification. The 1995-P quarter was struck in copper-nickel clad composition four years before the State Quarters program transformed the series beginning in 1999. Production volume at Philadelphia remained substantial, consuming numerous die pairs across extended press runs. The 1995-P carried the standard design in continuous use since 1932. Cataloged by Cuds on Coins, the -01 sequence number establishes the baseline entry for 1995-P rim cud documentation.
